International music sensation, Temilade Openiyi, professionally known as Tems, on Tuesday, received another global recognition as she bagged an Oscar nomination.
The Nigerian singer was nominated in the Best Original Song category. She was nominated for her contribution as a songwriter for Rihanna ‘Lift Me’, the soundtrack for Marvel’s “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”.
The 96th Academy Awards nominations were released in the early hours of Tuesday. The winners will be honoured at the ceremony in Los Angeles on the 12th of March.
Tems co-wrote “Lift Me” with global singer Rihanna, music producer Ludwig Göransson, and Black Panther’s director Ryan Coogler.
In November 2022, she was nominated for the Grammy awards in the Best Melodic Rap Performance category as a featured artiste on American rapper- Future’s single ‘Wait For U’ and Best Rap Song for the same single.
Her collaboration with Wizkid in their hit, ‘Essence’ also earned her a nomination in the Best Global Music Performance category, making her the first Nigerian female singer to bag a Grammy nomination.
