FEDERAL POLYTECHNIC BAUCHI COMMENCES CONSTRUCTION OF MALE STUDENTS’ HOSTEL UNDER BOT PARTNERSHIP

The Federal Polytechnic Bauchi has commenced the construction of a new Male Students’ Hostel through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) initiative with African Partners Plus Limited, Lagos. The project is being executed under the Build, Operate, and Transfer (BOT) model.

According to an official announcement posted on the institution’s Facebook page, site clearance and excavation work at the project site is nearing completion, marking significant progress in the early stages of the development.

The hostel project is estimated to cost N4 billion, with the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TetFund) contributing N1 billion as part of its intervention through the private partnership arrangement. This means the Federal Polytechnic Bauchi, through TetFund, is covering 25 percent of the total cost, while the private developer will shoulder the remaining 75 percent.

The BOT arrangement allows African Partners Plus Limited to finance, construct, and operate the facility for an agreed period before transferring ownership back to the institution. This approach is aimed at addressing the growing accommodation needs of students while leveraging private sector investment and expertise.

The management of the Federal Polytechnic Bauchi has expressed optimism that the hostel, once completed, will significantly ease accommodation challenges on campus and improve students’ welfare and learning conditions.

The project reflects the institution’s commitment to enhancing infrastructure and fostering partnerships that support its mission of delivering quality technical education in Nigeria.
