Tension flared in Gwallameji village, a student-dominated area near the Federal Polytechnic Bauchi, after residents of a lodge named “EFCC” reportedly locked up their caretaker for hours over a prolonged electricity outage. Federal Polytechnic Bauchi Achieves 100% NBTE Accreditation, Secures Approval for Eight New Programmes

The Federal Polytechnic Bauchi has reached a significant milestone in its academic journey by securing 100% accreditation for all its existing programmes from the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).  This statement was published on the official Facebook page of the institution by Alhaji Mohammed Rabiu Wada, mnipr , Director, Information and Public Relations , Federal Polytechnic Bauchi on the 13th of May 2025. This landmark achievement reaffirms the institution's dedication to academic excellence, quality assurance, and innovation in technical and vocational education. In a formal letter issued by the NBTE’s Director of Polytechnic Programmes, Dr. Fatima Kabir Umar , the Polytechnic was also granted approval to commence eight new academic programmes. Fire Guts ‘Nameless Lodge’ in Gwallameji, Properties Destroyed

                 Residents try to put off the fire A late-night fire outbreak on Monday ravaged a residential lodge known as Nameless Lodge , located behind Gwallameji Primary School in the Gwallameji area of Bauchi. While no lives were lost, several properties and personal belongings were completely destroyed before emergency responders arrived. Eyewitnesses reported that the fire started at about 6:45 p.m., sending residents of the lodge and neighboring buildings into a panic as thick smoke and flames engulfed the compound. The cause of the fire remains unknown as of the time of filing this report. Efforts by bystanders to contain the blaze proved futile, and it took some time before the fire service arrived at the scene. By then, most of the rooms in the building had been gutted, leaving the occupants devastated and without shelter.
