Federal University of Oye Ekiti VC Suspended Over Sexual Harassment Allegations

  The Governing Council of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) has suspended its Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abayomi Sunday Fasina, following allegations of sexual harassment made against him by a senior university official, Engr. Folasade Adebayo. The suspension was confirmed in a statement on Monday by the university’s Registrar and Secretary to the Governing Council, Mufutau A. Ibrahim. It read in part: “The Governing Council of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) at its 7th Emergency Meeting held online on Monday, 14th April 2025, considered the request of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abayomi Sunday Fasina, to proceed on his accumulated Annual and Research Leave and approved six (6) months, being 126 working days out of his total entitlements of 228 days with effect from today, Monday, 14th April 2025. “In addition, the Governing Council appointed Prof. Olubunmi S. Students Detain Caretaker over power outage in Gwallameji village

Tension flared in Gwallameji village, a student-dominated area near the Federal Polytechnic Bauchi, after residents of a lodge named “EFCC” reportedly locked up their caretaker for hours over a prolonged electricity outage. The Caretaker in black being dragged by the police  The incident occurred on Tuesday, April 8, when frustrated students confined the caretaker inside the lodge premises from around 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., accusing him of negligence. According to reports, the lodge had been without electricity for over a week despite students paying their full rent, including fees meant for electricity. The caretaker, whose name isMarcus Yakubu Maikano, reportedly contacted his lawyer, claiming he was being unlawfully detained by the students. The lawyer arrived at the scene in the company of three police officers. NIPOGA Opening: Federal Polytechnic Bauchi team wins 2-0 against Hassan Usman Katsina Polytechnic in debut match

  The Federal Polytechnic Bauchi (FPTB) football team has won its debut match against Hassan Usman Katsina Polytechnic (HUK) during the opening ceremony of the 22nd edition of NIPOGA games held on Saturday 5 April 2025. The Federal Polytechnic Bauchi emerged winner with two goals to nil against Hassan Usman Katsina Polytechnic, making it the first winning of the tournament.
