Federal Polytechnic Bauchi Achieves 100% NBTE Accreditation, Secures Approval for Eight New Programmes
The Federal Polytechnic Bauchi has reached a significant milestone in its academic journey by securing 100% accreditation for all its existing programmes from the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).
This statement was published on the official Facebook page of the institution by Alhaji Mohammed Rabiu Wada, mnipr,
Director, Information and Public Relations,
Federal Polytechnic Bauchi on the 13th of May 2025.
This landmark achievement reaffirms the institution's dedication to academic excellence, quality assurance, and innovation in technical and vocational education.
In a formal letter issued by the NBTE’s Director of Polytechnic Programmes, Dr. Fatima Kabir Umar, the Polytechnic was also granted approval to commence eight new academic programmes. These additions are tailored to meet national development priorities and global industry demands, particularly in technology, media, and economic management.
The newly approved programmes include:
Higher National Diploma (HND) in:
-
Crime Management
-
Cooperative Economics and Management
-
Taxation
-
Cybersecurity and Data Protection
-
Artificial Intelligence
-
Strategic Communication and Media Studies
-
Film and Multimedia Production
National Diploma (ND) in:
-
Urban and Regional Planning
While granting approval, the NBTE praised the Polytechnic for its strong commitment to quality education and institutional growth. However, it also identified key operational requirements that need to be met for the full regularization of the new programmes. These include enhancements in infrastructure, departmental operational costs, and acquisition of specialized equipment — areas the institution is already addressing in line with NBTE’s guidelines.
Reacting to the development, the Rector of the Polytechnic, Alhaji Sani Usman, described the 100% accreditation as a “bold validation of the Polytechnic’s capacity to deliver high-quality technical and vocational education aligned with Nigeria’s developmental goals and global best practices.”
He emphasized that the introduction of the new programmes demonstrates the institution’s resolve to remain proactive in adapting to emerging trends in digital technology, media innovation, economic development, and urban planning.
According to NBTE regulations, the newly accredited programmes will be up for another round of visitation in the year 2030. The newly introduced programmes will undergo accreditation when the pioneer students reach their fourth semester.
The announcement marks another proud chapter in the Federal Polytechnic Bauchi’s mission to produce competent, innovative, and industry-ready graduates for the Nigerian economy.
